5:5 MEDITATION

You get hung up on the word 'meditation' because you think it requires clearing your mind, om'ing or feeling like a gently running stream.

Nerrrrrp, not the best approach.

THE PURPOSE OF MEDITATION IS TO HELP US WAKE UP.

And I really want you to experience the wild benefits you're always hearing about before thinking "ugh I just can't sit still, it stresses me out!"

Honestly, I tried so many times and just couldn't keep it going.

I finally asked...how could I make this more approachable, less intimidating?

See, our brains are WIRED to daydream, to wander, to BE BORED. The first time we sit without distraction all of a sudden our brain goes haywire like a kid let loose in a ball pit fueled by gummy bears (littttt).

And we're like "holy sheesh, what's wrong with me where are all these thoughts coming from MAKE THEM STOP!!!"

But we never allocate the time to give our minds that boredom, soooo there’s just a lot to sift through the first few times.

I've created a lil tactic I call the 5:5, and I want to share it with you today in hopes you give sitting another try.

5:5 MEDITATION

  • ➡️Step 1: Download InsightTimer & head to the Timer. Set the Duration for 10:00 + select an Interval Bell for 5:00
  • ➡️Step 2: Settle in a comfortable, distraction-free spot
  • ➡️Step 3: Start the timer
    • [5min] NO agenda. Let your mind wander, follow thoughts, allow anything in that wants to show up
    • [5min] Pick a device (from below) & start practicing! There are no levels to unlock, no gold stars...the magic is in the doing ;)

DEVICES

  • HAPPY PLACE = Picture in as much detail as possible a physical place that brings a sense calm and happiness to you. Picture yourself walking and taking it all in
  • ????BREATH = Inhale/exhale at comfortable pace or box breathe 3:3:3:3
  • ????MANTRA = “I am the watcher" - "I am safe and secure” - “I am resilient” - "All is well"
  • ????FUTURE TRIP = Visualize a specific time in the future...how do you want to be, think, feel?
