How to STAY HEALTHY During the Holidays

My IG feed is telling me I’m slacking as a coach if I don’t shoot out some tips for navigating the holidays ????… so here are some suggestions I wrote last year for not sucking at enjoying festivities!

1. MOVE EVERY DAY

????‍♂️Hit a quickie first thing to even out energy and help you make better decisions that day. DON’T make it complicated. Just do SOMETHING such as...

3-5 Rounds:

  • 20 Reverse Lunges
  • 5 Pushup Negatives into Downward Dog
  • 20s Plank, any variation (keep those hips tucked under!)

2. ????SUPPORT YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

  • ????Take yer vitamins, ya noobs = Probiotics, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, a good multivitamin like Puregenomics (which has zinc in it, otherwise get zinc separately too) and digestive enzymes are a great start.
  • Sleep = You can offset many a dessert and Target checkout line stress with quality sleep.
  • Get outside = Lots of germs and crap are hanging out inside. Clear it out and get some fresh air.

????????‍♀️3. “NO, THANK YOU”

????????‍♀️You decide what you do and do not eat, and you really (no, seriously) don’t have to explain your choices to anyone. The day I stopped feeling like I had to explain my food choices at gatherings was a total game changer. Interestingly enough, when you don’t make a big deal about things, other people tend not to either. If they do, it’s because they’re insecure or just being jerks.

4.EAT AT HOME FIRST

????Ever tried binging on queso after letting a full meal settle? Okay, maybe a bad example, queso is delicioso. Legit though, enjoy whatever you want to eat and avoid the binge blackout by tempering your appetite.

5. PLAN AHEAD + COME PREPARED

????Traveling? On the go? Don’t get caught in that 6-hour foodless famine

  • Greek yogurt
  • ????Bananas or other fruit
  • RX bars
  • Quality jerky
  • Boiled eggs
  • Sandwich (Canyon Bakehouse bread, quality deli meat, avocado mayo, sprouts and lettuce are my go-to option)
  • Actual (gasp!) meals packed in a Pyrex

6. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK

????If you’re going to indulge, ENJOY it. No wasting energy on whether you “should” or “shouldn’t” do something, just savor (ha, pun!) this once-a-year time with your friends and fam.
